Turn on Android Developer Settings

Tech Tip

Since Android 4.2 there has been a hidden way to turn on the developer settings. USB debugging the usual reason to turn on the feature.

How to do it:

Find and click ‘About Phone’ in your settings menu– usually the ‘cog wheel’ icon.

Scroll down to find ‘Build number’ at the bottom of the screen. This is the hidden door so to speak.

Tap ‘Build number’ 7 times in a row.

After a few taps you will start seeing developer messages so you know you are in the right place, but the 7th turns on the feature.

That is all there is to it!

IT Director/Senior Software Engineer, Photographer I test and create new CSS web page formatting hacks for BrowserHacks.com for the purpose of repairing web sites. PS-- CSS hacks are fun, but please attempt good CSS first unless in a bind. See Test Pages: https://browserstrangeness.bitbucket.io and https://browserstrangeness.github.io
